Dear Toni Tuesday……
Dear Toni,
My friend unfriended me on Facebook because of a debate we had on politics. It’s so stupid that she would unfriend me when I have known her for twelve years. I don’t know what to do. Do I try to talk to her? Do I leave it alone? I know we are suppose to let things go and move on but do I move on without her or try to mend this? Right now she hasn’t said anything else to me. Thank you.
Truly,
V
Dear V~
I have heard of this happening quite a bit. In fact it has happened to me. I am also perplexed that we have lost the ability to agree to disagree and move on together. Social media has become a powerful tool. It has also allowed us to not be fully connected to people where we can just hit an UNFRIEND button to remove them.
With my experience I let it go and moved on without them. I feel that if my opinion is something that would cause someone to remove me as a Facebook friend, then I don’t need them in my life. If I am that easy to be removed, then I will hurt, but I will continue on.
If you feel that this friendship is worth saving, then you should reach out and try to save it. Sometimes it’s just the heat of the moment and not a permanent decision.
I hope this works out for you and I wish you the best. Hold on to what you believe and be kind whenever possible!
Keep me posted…. live fully!
